IT players, Infosys and Wipro, have not only emerged smarter out of the recent
recession but are also hunting for talent with a difference. They are playing
up innovation to float newer ways of attracting and catching talent. A lot of
employees have begun to quit employers for greener pastures as markets
recovered over the last few months.

Infosys Technologies has
opened a "green channel", inviting its former employees who wish to
come back to the Infy stable. This special channel has been created to make
their return home a smooth affair. They have also has gone in for a round of
compensation hike and are trying to drive the idea of “Once an Infoscion,
always an Infoscion”.
Wipro, too, is reviving its 10-year
old programme, WASE (Wipro Academy of Software Excellence) to attract fresh
talent in the areas of BSc computer science, information technology,
electronics, physics, math, statistics etc. Under this scheme the fresh grads
will be on Wipro payroll and will simultaneously do their master’s through a
combination of online and offline. In past 10 years Wipro has hired only 4,000
people so far under the scheme but now it is planning to extend it to 3,000
fresh candidates this year under WASE.
